This week’s Heroes Brawl, Heroes of the Storm’s weekly event, takes players to Blackheart’s Revenge.
Heroes Brawl is a weekly event held in Blizzard’s very own MOBA, Heroes of the Storm. In Heroes Brawl, players have the chance to challenge their opponents in unique maps that are available only during the course of the event. The rules of Heroes of the Storm are thrown out of the window and competing teams find themselves amidst a completely new set of rules exclusive to each map.
This week players will have the chance to experience Blackheart’s Revenge, an asymmetrical map where one team is tasked with assisting the ghost pirate’s ship through the bay while the other needs sink it in order to achieve victory. Competitors may choose among three random heroes within 30 seconds before the match starts. They are randomly assigned to either assist Blackheart or sink his ship. Completing three matches awards 1,000 gold and Blackheart’s portrait.
After a dispute with Valve for using and trademarking DOTA 2, Blizzard was forced to rebrand their own game to Blizzard All-Stars, which would later become Heroes of the Storm. Different from other MOBA titles, however, Heroes of the Storm lives up to its previous title and put famous Blizzard characters against each other, such as Diablo’s Auriel, World of Warcraft’s Varian, Starcraft’s Lt. Morales, and Overwatch’s Tracer, among others. It was officially released in June 2015 to a favorable reception and continues to be a relevant title within the genre.
Heroes of the Storm is a free to play multiplayer online battle arena available for Windows PC and OSX.
