You will find loads of developers these days on many funding sites, trying to get money to either complete their game or start working on it. A Hero’s Call doesn’t really need the money for that, as the game is practically done, but since it’s an RPG with lots of dialogue, the developers need the money to pay for voice actors.
This is where their Kickstarter campaign comes in, as they’re trying to get $2,850 for that, and they have already raised over $1,500 and they still have lots of time to achieve their goal.
Interestingly enough, A Hero’s Call was supposed to be a game primarily designed for blind people. The developers, Out of Sight Games, started out with two people, a blind writer and composer and a blind programmer who lost their sight as young adults and they grew up playing video games. And since today you don’t have many games which can be enjoyed by the blind, they decided to make a game specifically for them. Over time though, the project grew, and so they decided to make the game both for those who cannot see and for those who can.
Everything was going fine until Out of Sight Games realized how much voice acting was required for their game. Since it’s an RPG with lots of exploration and a huge amount of story and characters, they needed a lot of quality voice actors, but they didn’t have the money for them. That’s why they made their own Kickstarter project to help them raise money for it, as A Hero’s Call is almost a complete game, it just needs the voice acting for the final touch.
A Hero’s Call seems like a truly unique game, and if it succeeds, it will definitely be an amazing experience for gamers that unfortunately can’t see anymore.
