It’s going to be a big weekend for Blizzard and for Overwatch players, as the Overwatch World Cup is set to take place. This will be a major event for the esports side of Overwatch, but in a way, it’s a prelude of sorts to what’s coming next: The Overwatch League. Blizzard has been building its league with great care, and even did a special tournament to help show off players to team owners so that they could build the best teams possible.
To help build even more drama for Overwatch League, Blizzard has slowly been revealing the teams in the league. The Seoul Dynasty, the New York Excelsior, and now, the Houston Outlaws. And as you’ll see in the picture below, this team is very proud of every aspects of their heritage. Outlaws are the rebels, and there are a lot of rebels in Texas. What’s more, their logo is two guns, shaped like a bull skull, all under a star, all symbols of Texas.
Oh, and the teams sponsor, OpTic Gaming, has a fanbase called “The Green Wall”, hence the coloring of the logo and uniform.
You have to admit, that’s pretty cool looking, and Blizzard was clearly honoring this team even more by having McCree as their “mascot” for the pic above. After all, he is the outlaw of sorts in the Overwatch rosters.
This is the second team reveal in as many days, which means Blizzard is really stepping up their game in terms of reveals for the Overwatch League. Perhaps we’ll be getting some announcements for it at the World Cup at BlizzCon? It’s hard to say, but it’s certainly possible, as Blizzard is aiming to make the league something that everyone can enjoy. Not just the players, but also the viewers, so something getting revealed wouldn’t be out of the question.
