Despite all the uncertainty of the upcoming film The Batman, which is set to be written, directed, produced by, and starring Ben Affleck, there is one certainty other than Affleck. It’s the villain. Deathstroke will make his movie debut in The Batman, and will be played by Joe Manganiello. The only real glimpse of the villain that we’ve had though so far was in a teaser CGI trailer…until now.
Why? Because Joe Manganiello himself posted a pic of him in full Deathstroke armor. He noted that while the background was a fake, this was a picture of him during an armor “screen test”. Likely meaning that they were testing how well he could move in the armor, and how the armor looked on camera. Here is the pic:

As you can see, it’s very much in line with what has been shown for Deathstroke in various comics and other media. He’s got the orange and black armor, the helmet (which actually has two eyeholes…), a big sword on his back, shells for guns all around, and frankly, he just looks dang good.
While this is the first time Deathstroke will appear in a live-action film, this isn’t the first time he’s appearing in live-action. Manu Bennett played him in Arrow for several seasons, even having two different versions of the armor as the story went on. In fact, his Deathstroke armor was praised for its look because the TV budget usually cripples such attire. That being said, this one is much more stylized, and dare I say sleeker, fans should be pleased.
The only question now is, “When will The Batman start filming?” Affleck has waffled back and forth about the when and the how. He says he needs the right script, and that he won’t be pushed to a deadline to make a film he doesn’t believe in. On the other hand, it’s clear Warner Bros. is taking strides to get everything ready for filming.
Who will win out? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
