Kakao Games has announced today that they have managed to reach an impressive milestone of over 550 million registered users, which are spread across their extensive games portfolio and services. Meanwhile, company CEOs Whon Namkoong and Kyehyun Cho have both declared their goal of hitting 30 million DAU whilst discussing the game related businesses that they are involved with.
On November 1st, Kakao Games integrated the game business part of Kakao to be launched as a subsidiary. With this, the company has evolved into one specializing in global multi-platform gaming with over 550 registered users. The company spans from mobile games, to PC online games, to VR and AR products, and its product model has already exceeded 10 million DAU back in 2012. This gave them the platform to launch over 1,100 games through various partnerships with over 570 developers.
As far as mobile gaming is concerned, Kakao are looking to expand their user base with both channeling operations and direct publishing, including Gambyul and Starplay, which will allow for mobile games to be played on PC. There is also the implementation of game development subsidiaries, such as Kakao VX, which specializes in both VR and AR experiences.
Meanwhile, the PC division will carry on with publishing high quality gaming products, and using the game portal Daum Game as the platform to do so, particularly with the immensely popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which will be available pretty soon.
So congratulations are certainly in order for Kakao Games, who seem to be continuing to go from strength to strength.
