The Game Awards is an annual event to celebrate the video game industry. Produced and hosted by journalist Geoff Keighley, it started in 2014 by awarding titles such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, the online game Destiny, the indie darling Shovel Knight, and even the popular YouTuber TotalBiscuit, he took home the award of “Trending Gamer”. Later in 2015, the award show witnessed controversy when Hideo Kojima, producer and director of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, was allegedly prohibited by published Konami to accept the prizes given to his creation.Furthermore, the ceremony awarded developer and publisher CD Pojekt RED three times, once for “Developer of the Year” and twice more for their latest release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Other highlights include Dontnod Entertainment’s Life is Strange, Nintendo’s Splatoon, and Rocket League.
The Game Awards will be broadcast online on December 1st, starting at 7 p.m. PST.
