Riot Games has now published reminders on both their North American and European West portals, reminding players in those two major regions that the 2017 ranked season is coming to a close. Players still have time to get into games, increase their win records, and potentially get some sweet ranked rewards.
League of Legends Ranked Season 2017
While the onset of fall for many means changing leaves and PSLs, it’s also the close of the official ranked season for League of Legends. All year, players have been doing their best to ride out solo queue fiestas, develop the flavor profiles of their duo queue cheese, and generally try to keep things spicy without turning too salty. Depending on where you land at the end of the season, you’ll earn rewards specific to your official rank.
While you do get something for ending the season in Bronze, it sure isn’t much. Just a profile insignia and a summoner icon, and if all they do is let people know you were Bronze tier in 2017, you might just want to keep those to yourself. Meanwhile, anybody who can make it up to Silver or Gold will also get a fancy loading screen border sure to make your opponents sweat while the Rift loads up. You can also get the Victorious Ward Skin for either tier, and the Victorious Graves Skin if you can make it up to Gold.
While most of these things are similar to rewards at the end of past seasons, the profile insignia is a totally new feature. It’s a bit of flair that people will see directly under your summoner name on your profile page. As an added bonus, players will also earn a ward skin at the end of the season if they’ve made it to Honor level 3 or higher. It’s a nice way to celebrate the revamped honor system that was implemented mid-season.
Ranked 2017 officially ends on November 7th. The 2018 season is set to begin on January 16th.
