Square Enix keeps surprising us with their latest business moves. Especially the one regarding the first episode of the game Life is Strange, a teenage adventure that involves time travel. It seems that from now on it will be free. And I’m not talking about free periods like 30 days. It will be free forever, on all platforms.
This means that if you didn’t have the opportunity to try this title, you can do it for free later this week on your PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 or PC.
CEO of Dontnod, the games developer, Oskar Guilbert, said that he still can’t believe the game’s success. Everything they ever wanted to accomplish was to create a completely new version of narration games. It seems that they made it and Life is Strange is a living proof of that.
Finally, he was more that happy to announce that Square Enix is helping them provide players with the free edition of the first episode. Maybe this move will make many players turn to Life is Strange and create a demand for all other episodes. Even though this looks like a good marketing and sales idea, I doubt that was the main focus of this decision.
On the other hand, ever since this game was launched, it received a high status among fans. So far, the game was downloaded more than a million times and it won the BAFTA and Peabody awards.
