The mobile market isn’t often recongised for its MMORPG contributions. This seems like somthing that is about to change thanks to Lineage, which is making a significant impact on mobile gaming rankings.
Two new Lineage releases released in December last year reached the top two rankings in top-selling moblie games. In fact, Net Marble Games’ Lineage 2 Revolution was a top-seller in two seperate markets, whislt NCSoft’s Lineage Red Knights reached the top of Android’s Google Play Market. The MMO genre has just four games within the top 30 ranking, with Mu Origin and Aden being the only others included alongside the two Lineage games. The popularity of foregin MMO games in particular has seen a sharp drop in the mobile market, so the resurgence through Lineage is pleasing to see.
Lineage is expected to enjoy plentiful longevity, similar to titles like Marvel of All and Seven Knights, with another more powerful Lineage game expected sometime in 2017. Dubbed Lineage M, the game is expected to feature an open world centered around the Arden World.
A quote from a gaming industry official via chosun stated: “One of the features of Lineage’s game is that it maintains its popularity for a long time with the loyal player Mr. Linzer. Since we have a large number of users with purchasing power for game money, Especially for Lineage M, which will be released in 2017, is interested in whether or not to exceed 7 billion won in daily sales set by Lineage 2 Revolution.”
Lineage is set to continue its success on the mobile market into 2017, an exciting prospect for fans of the platform and genre.
