Shyvana is one of Leauge of Legends’ more unique champions, as she has the ability to transform into a dragon. Now, Riot decided to change some of her abilities a bit to try to improve her gameplay, so let’s see what they did to her!
Changes were made to her E, W, Ultimate, and her passive.
Before today’s champion class frameworks (Juggernauts), champions were made without a general theme, which means they had a unique design. But, League of Legends now now has these champions called Juggernauts that are bulky, dangerous enemies that lack a gap-closer. Shyvana, on the other hand, is a bulky, dangerous enemy that HAS a gap-closer.
Her E – Flame Breath was a cone of damage ability in Dragon Form that was only effective if her enemies clumped up in front of her, which didn’t happen most of the time. Now, Dragon Form lets you control how much your Flame Breath travels. It now explodes and leaves scorched earth on the ground that marks enemies for the on-hit proc of Flame Breath.
Her ultimate, Dragon’s Descent lost its bonus resistances and got bonus health instead. The dragon is now also bigger and her flight can no longer be interrupted. Dragon’s Descent also does less damage and even travels less distance, which is a questionable decision.
Burnout, her W, will no longer leave a flame trail in Dragon Form. To compensate, Burnout is much bigger in Dragon Form than it used to be.
Dragonborn, her passive, got tonned down by quite a lot, but she does 10% more damage to dragons and she gains 5 Armor and Magic Resistance for every Elemental drakes that gets defeated by Shyvana or her allies.
Some interesting and some questionable changes were made, so we’ll have to see how they affect Shyvana and if they make her a valuable pick once again!
