Square Enix is a master publisher when it comes to RPGs. Between Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and new IPs, they have a good hold on the RPG market, and are always looking to make more because they know that players love them. A while back they decided to make a new in-house publisher that would focus on RPG title. They even called it Tokyo RPG Factory, and their first title was the well received I Am Setsuna. Well, now they’re going full force on their latest title Lost Sphear, which has just gotten a new gameplay video.
Much like I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear will be an old-school RPG, with a turn-based battle system that’ll have you working with a team to defeat monsters. However, unlike I Am Setsuna, this title will have more modern graphics, and will use them to help tell a grand story about a group of heroes trying to restore the world through its memories.
You play as Kanata and along with his friends Lumina, Lock, Van, Sherra, and Obaro you will travel through a vast and dangerous and try to restore all the memories that have been taken and lost. Otherwise, the world itself will fall into ruin.
As you can see in the video above, these aren’t your typical turn-based battles. They deal with you having to look 360 degrees around you to choose what opponent to fight. Meaning you’ll have to be mindful of your surroundings at all times. Additionally, the game will have you solving environment puzzles and challenges in true RPG style, this game feels like something old mixed with something new, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Lost Sphear is available for pre-order now, and in fact, you can get your pre-order of physical copies of the game exclusively through the Square Enix store.
