The Wii U gets a lot of flak as a system. It wasn’t marketed well, it didn’t live up to the legacy of the Wii, and Nintendo didn’t capitalize on its potential. That being said, it still had some of the best games in recent memory, including what’s possibly the greatest entry in the Mario Kart series, Mario Kart 8. The game literally took the racing genre to new heights through the use of antigravity technology on the racing karts and vehicles.
This slight change made all the difference, and Mario Kart 8 was one of the best games on the Wii U. In fact, it was the fastest and best-selling game on the console at the time of its release. Now, it’s coming to the successful Nintendo Switch as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. For those who don’t know, this is a direct port from the Wii U version with some new characters and a new Battle Mode which is said to be really good. Plus, because of the Switch’s design, now you can play the game anywhere and have a much easier time playing with friends nearby.
Also, there’s a slight graphics boost coming with it. To show off all the new and familiar things in the game, Nintendo released an overview trailer showcasing the new Battle Mode and unveiling a new character in the form of Gold Mario, which you can apparently get by beating the hardest difficulty of the game.
Be prepared to get your racing on with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. With classic and new Nintendo characters competing in hilarious deadly races, the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 28th.
