The characters of the Nintendo universe have come together for many things, and now, they’re teaming up for the ultimate sports title in Mario Sports Superstars. In the game, you’ll team up with characters from the various Nintendo franchises, though mainly the Mario characters, and play five different sports for the honor of being called the champion of each. You’ll get to play Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf, and Horseback Riding.
Just because these are sports titles, doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to offer. As various Mario sports games in the past have taught us, these versions of the sports have various tweaks and perks that you won’t find anywhere else. Mainly because the personality and the powers of these Mario and Nintendo characters get translated into the game, meaning you’ll have more fun picking a truly epic team to dominate. That’s the other thing, you’ll actually be raising up a team in Mario Sports Superstars instead of just picking characters like you’ve done before.
Added to that are the Amiibo Cards, which in this game make it so you can have even stronger members for your team. In fact, the Amiibo Card versions of the characters are stronger than the ones in the game, thus giving you a reason to go check them out and get them. Plus, there are collectible cards you can get in the game that feature the characters, their gear, and more.
This is a true culmination of the Mario sports titles, which has been around for a while. In fact, the only sport in Mario Sports Superstars that hasn’t had its own solo title is Horseback Riding, although that was featured in Wii Play. Regardless, if you dig the Mario sports games, you’ll definitely want to get this one for your 3DS.
