A few days ago, I reported an announcement from Polygon that a new installment to the fighting crossover series Marvel vs Capcom was coming. That game has finally taken shape, in the form of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, which will bring together characters from two of the most prominent content creators across the span of nerd culture.
The trailer was shown today, with characters like Ryu and my personal favorite, Mega Man X taking the center stage for Capcom. Meanwhile, Marvel had Iron Man and Captain Marvel fighting on their behalf.
Obviously, this was just a teaser so no actual gameplay was shown, but it’s been implied that most of the characters on the Marvel side will be from the Cinematic Universe. This unfortunately means that the X-Men, which occupied quite a large chunk of the roster in previous titles, will not be present.
That being said, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has built up quite a large roster on their own. From the individual films such as Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Thor, Captain America, and many others, to the films such as Captain America: Civil War which served to introduce numerous other characters to the universe, such as Spider-Man and Black Panther.
While no concrete release date has been set, fans will no doubt be receiving more updates on Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. The roster will be massive, and the outcry and support from fans will be no doubt, just as large.
