Let’s rewind a bit, shall we? Metal Gear Solid is one of the most beloved franchises that has even come from the realm of video games. Published by Konami, and headed up by Hideo Kojima, the games helped redefine what stealth games were, all the while added a deep and complex story that kept players riveted. Through five main stories, and several spinoffs, the series thrived. But then, a very public firing of Hideo Kojima happened, and Konami decided to continue the Metal Gear franchise without him, creating Metal Gear Survive.
Now, to be fair, it was well within their rights to continue the series, and many franchises have had their creates or leads leave and still go strong. But, with Metal Gear Survive, it was something else entirely. The game abandoned stealth and went for a literal survival game full of zombies and base building, and from the moment it was released, fans and critics bashed it. But what’s ironic, is that some of the development team apparently didn’t like it either, and put in some secret messages into the game itself.
Look at the picture above, and then find the last name “Komododragon”. If you start there with the “K”, and go down the list of the last names (skipping Shimoda as that’s the first name), you get “KJP Forever”, as in, “Kojima Productions Forever”.
Sound like a coincidence? Well, look at the last two last names on the list. Those are actually the first names as the director and producer of Metal Gear Survive: Yota Tsutsumizaki and producer Yuji Korekado. Still think it’s a coincidence? We didn’t think so either.
The fact that no one noticed this at Konami means that this really was slipped in under the radar, but now that it’s found out, we think there’s going to be heck to pay. But, if this is a swan song for some devs at the company, this is a boss way to go out.
