When it comes to making video games, there’s two general rules that need to be followed. One, the game needs to be good, and two, if you release it on major platforms, it needs to sell. Whether a game sells or not can be the determining factor behind whether a video game developer get to continue making games or not. Fortunately, for develop Com2Us, that doesn’t seem to be a concern. For if their quarterly numbers are to be believed, they’re really rolling in it.
According to a press release containing their Q1 numbers, Com2Us has made over 100 billion KRW in the last fiscal quarter. This marks the sixth straight quarter that they have done that well. What may be the most interesting is that 89% of that revenue came from overseas players, which proves that they are a true global power and not just a favorite in South Korea.
Even more impressive, the profit Com2Us has gained is through both net profit, and through their operating profit, meaning that they’re being successful in just about every aspect of development that matters. That’s hardly surprising considering that their game lineup contains titles such as Summoners War, which has been a hit mobile game since launch, and continues to do well.
Adding to their roster is MLB 9 Innings, a baseball title that actually interacts with MLB itself to update stats on players and teams, and Golf Star, a golf playing title.
Despite their success, Com2Us isn’t slowing down in their desire to make more and more titles. They’re hoping to make new IPs, and expand the ones they have, including a Summoners War MMORPG that is slated for release in 2018.
It’s good to know that in the highly competitive gaming market you can do very well for yourself as long you make great games and put them into players hands.
