Back at Blizzcon 2016, Blizzard took the opportunity to announce a new hero into Overwatch, revealing Sombra after months of teasers. This year however, they’ve decided to unveil a new hero without any notice, bringing healer Moira to the growing roster.
Overwatch looks to be having a huge presence at this year’s event, especially with the Overwatch World Cup taking place this weekend. Now, we have seen Blizz drop a brand new hero in our laps, much to the excitement of many fans.
Moira has the ability to switch between short-range biotic healing and damage beams, and she can shoot an energy ball which heals team mates in a certain area or fly around in a pinball effect to cause damage. There is also an evasive ability in her arsenal, which allows her to fade and teleport away a short distance from the action. As for her ultimate ability, this sees a linear beam being dispatched that heals all around her whilst damaging all enemies in her wake.
Ever since launch back in May 2016, Blizzard has graced the popular shooter with a number of additional characters. However, one of the most common requests has been for a healer hero to be added, so this will hopefully be a wish fulfilled for many players who have been craving a new support character, which of course provides more options as far as support goes. What Moira’s abilities seem to provide is a balance between offensive and defensive, and we can’t wait to see her in action when Blizzard introduce her into the test servers, which will is still yet to be confirmed as far as the date goes.
