The Monster Hunter series is one of the most respected gaming franchises in video game history. It’s so beloved in Japan that every single entry is a celebrated thing more or less. Yet, Capcom has been trying to bring the love of it over to the west for a long time, and have even made titles specifically for the West. The next one in that line is Monster Hunter: World. This title is set to be everything Monster Hunter fans love, and more, and a new trailer gives more insight into this new world.
First off, Monster Hunter: World’s new trailer shows a little bit more of the story of the game. Your character finds a population of people within this realm of monsters. This place, called Hystera, is a thriving ecosystem, but it’s still one that has monsters all around it, so you have to be vigilant at all times, which is proven when a bunch of monsters show up. And as you’re about to see, these monsters are huge…
Yes, it’s clear Capcom is going all-out to make this a true Monster Hunter experience. But also, as the team noted in a previous interview, they also wanted to create a special open-world experience. One where the open world didn’t feel “empty”, and it looks like they’re succeeding in that.
Monster Hunter: World looks massive in scope, and what’s more, it has interesting ways for you to get around the world. Riding a ship, floating through the air with special cloth, it’s very exciting, and the battles you’ll be fighting look very intense.
The game is set to release January 26th, 2018, and pre-orders are going to be opening up today. And doing so will get you the Origin Set of armor, which will give you an extra boost of power and defense right off the bat. Oh, and if you’re in Japan, a special Monster Hunter: World PS4 is heading your way.
