Brace yourselves, Bungie. Many fans are currently anticipating a whirlwind of backlash when Destiny 2 finally launches, given the reputation of toxicity from the game’s community already.
We’ve already seen many examples of Destiny fans bringing their fears about the upcoming sequel to light, and some of it is perfectly understandable. Whether these have surrounded issues such as PvP and PvE, the manner in which additional content was introduced or just problems with the mechanics, it is fair to see why some fans may be skeptical.
It was quite disheartening to see such skepticism so early on, which dates back as far as the game’s official announcement. As far as the official forums go, many predict that it will be a “warzone” and a “toxic wasteland” when launch day comes, with certain players anticipating early changes such as nerfs, which will be sure to unsettle a few of us. On the flip side, others believe that not only will there be a number of issues, but rather having a ton of complaints, it will be argued against as “Fanboys will blindly defend this game and use every possible excuse just like they did with the hype.”
When all is said and done, there’s no pleasing everyone, and that is an issue that affects every single game out there. It is impossible to please every player out there, and Bungie will be more than aware of that. If you are excited to play Destiny 2, don’t let complaints take away from your experience. If you are on the other side of the fence, then let the hype train pass your station until release, and see if its right for you.
