Fire Emblem Heroes honestly came out of nowhere in some aspects. We knew that the franchise would be coming to mobile platforms, but we didn’t know in what capacity. Plus, given the lukewarm reception to Super Mario Run, fans weren’t expecting anything spectacular. Yet, when the game arrived, it brought fans a new twist on the series, bringing in new ways to play, new ways to get characters into your army, and so much more. Today, one of their key events opened up again, the Tempest Trials.
In the Tempest Trials, you have to weave your way through many maps of enemies, and if you succeed, you’ll get a high score. If you fail (after using multiple teams) then you’ll get a lower score. By building up the score you’ll get rewards. Including a special character, in this case, Masked Marth, as well as Orbs (for summing), crystals (for leveling up), and Seals (to increase the power of your characters).
In the one that launched today, called “A Gift Of Peace”, you’ll be rewarded for using characters that were recently released in the Christmas banner. Mainly, Christmas versions of Marth, Robin, Lissa, and Tharja. But, you will also get bonuses for characters like Lucina, Masked Marth, and more.
This is just but one of the many modes that makes Fire Emblem Heroes what it is. And it’s a big reason why the game is so popular. It’s been downloaded over 12 million times, and has grossed over $240 million dollars, a big win for Nintendo.
Plus, this game is building up the hype for Fire Emblem when it comes to the Nintendo Switch next year, and given the popularity of the Switch and the franchise as it is now, this could be the biggest release in Fire Emblem history if done right.
