No Man’s Sky received a lot of attention at launch, but the game didn’t turn out as people thought it would. It ended up being a disappointment, but Hello Games aren’t quitting, as their new update adds base building, new game modes, and freighters.
The game received a lot of patches ever since it was released, to fix bugs and critical issues with the game. Now that they patched it up, they decided to add content for free!
No Man’s Sky update 1 adds an interesting element to the game, and that’s base building. You can now build yourself a home on any planet of your choosing. Your base can be used for shelter and as a storage, and you can even farm crops and hire NPCs from various Space Stations to research new tech and products for you. You can teleport to your base at any time.
Do you get any perks for having a base? Yes, you get quite a lot of them actually. For instance, you can build equipment in the field, like save points, way points, mining harvesters, and Signal Scanners.
Two more things are being added in this update and those are some new game modes and freighters. The three new game modes are the Normal mode ( the original, chill experience of No Man’s Sky), Creative mode ( basically gives you the ability to explore the game’s universe without limits and build a base as big as you want it to be), and the Survival mode ( as you can guess from the name, this will be a much more challenging mode than the other two).
And the final part of the update is the addition of the freighters. These huge ships are found traveling through space, and if you have the money, you can buy the ship from the captain and gain control over it. You can teleport your goods to your freighter from a planet, stockpile them for trading later on, and you can summon your freighter from anywhere in the galaxy.
The Foundation update (that’s also how it’s called) also brings some improvements to the game such as stackable products, larger inventories, a quick menu and much more!
