The Nintendo Switch has some very interesting titles coming out this year, but one of the biggest, and one of the few 3rd party exclusive ones, is Octopath Traveler. Published by Square Enix, and developed by the team behind Bravely Default, the game offers a very special visual and gameplay styles. Not to mention, you can play as one of eight very different and very unique characters during the journey. During the latest Nintendo Direct, we got a look at two more characters who you can be.
First up is Tressa, she’s a Merchant. Tressa wants to find both treasure and her own story in the world, and goes on a journey to do just that. Her special ability is Purchase, where she can buy things that other characters can’t. The second characters is Alfyn, he’s an Apothecary or healer. He wants to help those in need as a way to repay a debt to man who once saved him. His special ability is Inquire, where he can learn lots of information from people which can lead to some big rewards.
Furthermore, the Nintendo Direct revealed that all characters in Octopath Traveler will be able to combine their base class with another class. Doing so will bring forth new unique abilities for them to use in battle. There’s a lot of possibilities here, so you’ll definitely want to take advantage of them when you can.
Finally, the game will be launched on the Nintendo Switch on July 13th. If you’re looking for an extra special version of the game, there’s a Wayfarer’s Edition that might interest you. It gives you a special map, artbook, a coin from the game itself, and more. You can pre-order now.
There’s still four more characters and a lot more details to be revealed for Octopath Traveler, and we can’t wait to find out more.
