Ana mains, rejoice! We finally have the news from Blizzard that we have all been waiting for; Ana will indeed be getting a buff in Overwatch.
Following her introduction to the hero roster, Ana was subjected to nerfs that didn’t make her unplayable, but for certain her popularity plummeted. This particularly affected her presence in competitive play, with her pick rate vastly decreasing over time. This wasn’t helped either by fellow support hero Mercy being buffed and reworked by Blizzard, to the point where my fans not only felt that she was overpowered, but her new abilities heavily outshined other support characters, particularly Ana.
The confirmation from Blizzard came via game director Jeff Kaplan, when responding to a thread rather ironically based on an inquiry as to when Genji would be nerfed. Forum user Dysvalence took this opportunity to ask the question of whether Ana would be getting a buff before balancing Mercy. Jeff Kaplan responded:
Yes. We’re increasing her damage. We’ve been testing it internally for a while. Last night, we threw our competitive group at it (Masters/GM level players) and they really liked it also. So it will probably make the PTR soon.
This will come as a great relief for those who main Ana and feel as if she should be buffed, so she can once again rub shoulders with the rest of the roster.
