Overwatch is about to reach a very important milestone in its gaming life, one year of existence. The team-based shooter title was released by Blizzard on May 24th, 2016. In the course of a year (or close to it) the game has blown players and critics away with its deep combat, vast roster, and numerous updates. But with the anniversary is the question about special content for it. There’s no doubt that Blizzard is going to do something for Overwatch to celebrate its phenomenal first year, but what? And most importantly, when is it coming?
That is the question that is puzzling many different players, especially those on Battle.net, who believe that something will happen on the 16th (via certain teases and leaks that have been released online), or, that it’ll happen on the 23rd (the day before the anniversary). Battle.net user Rednaxela31 asks which is true, because the Overwatch team did note that all events would have an announcement confirming them (which was reiterated in a tweet), yet nothing, so far, has happened in terms of anniversary announcements. Leading him to wonder:
“Is Blizzard stalling us for another week, potentially with a teaser to be released today?”
The community is divided on this, because to some, Blizzard could announce an event for the anniversary at any time at any date, and call it forewarning, and this has apparently happened before. But then, there is stuff like Uprising, which had more of a event feel to it, and had more details before it launched. True, there are leaks saying it’ll arrive before the anniversary date, but, that doesn’t mean anything, leaks have been wrong before.
Some players are certain that Blizzard will take the true date route:
“I would like for it to start tomorrow, but it’s probably going to start next week if at all,” notes player Turtlebomb.
The truth is we’ll just have to wait and see what Blizzard does. When would you like to get the anniversary content for Overwatch? And what kind of content do you want it to be?
