Blizzard is slowly gearing up for their esports venture for their popular game Overwatch. They’ve already begun it with the Overwatch Contenders League, as well as the World Cup that’s going to be taking place at BlizzCon this year. But the real fun begins with the Overwatch League, which will see teams from all over the world battle it out for cash prizes, glory, and so much more. And now, they’re starting to unveil some of the teams that will fill up that League.
First up, Seoul, South Korea, and the team the Seoul Dynasty. As Blizzard notes on their website, the name is perfect for the team as it not only invokes the history of their country, but defines the kind of team they want to be: A Dynasty. One that will win and be remembered for a long time. Even the tiger symbol is significant, as it’s the national symbol of their country.
It’ll fun to see who gets revealed next and what their team name, colors, and thought process will be. As this is part of the fun of esports is seeing who shows up next to challenge for the crown. No doubt Blizzard will be revealing the teams slowly to build up even more anticipation for the Overwatch League.
But that’s not all, Blizzard has been taking steps to ensure that their esports tournaments aren’t just better for the players, but for the viewers as well. They revealed in a special video recently that they were going to be implementing things like a new free 3rd person camera to follow the action in game. An interactive map for the announcer to use and call out the action, and more distinguishable color schemes for the teams. Which you can see in the pic for the Seoul Dynasty team.
Either way, this is going to be a fun time.
