Overwatch has gotten quite the fanbase since its release last year. As with all fanbases, they are varied in what they like in particular about the title. Some love the fast paced gameplay, others like the strategy elements involved, others like the large cast of characters they can control; so on and so forth. Some, however, like the lore of the game, and that has gotten them inspired enough to do something rather special.
Reddit user LURK3Rnomore made a post detailing that his sister doesn’t play Overwatch very much, but, she’s played it enough to love the lore of the game. So much so that she decided to draw some of the human characters as Omnics. You can see some of her work below.
These are very detailed, and there are more where these came from. It’s also fascinating that she’s in love with the lore, and apparently the Omnic lore, which isn’t too surprising as they do play a key part in the history of Overwatch’s world.
In Overwatch, Omnics were originally designed as factory workers. However, their programming soon made them self-aware, and thus they technically had free will. After a while, some of these models became defunct, and actually manufactured an army of Omnics to try and take over. Though they were defeated, the Omnics were allowed to remain intact as not all fought in the Omnic Crisis.
Many parts of the Overwatch world deal with Omnics and their rights differently. Some parts of the world are at war with them, others live peacefully with them, and others oppress them.
Regardless, it is cool to see the story of the Omnics inspiring someone to make very beautiful art.
