One of the biggest problems with Overwatch, the hit game from Blizzard, is that with such a big roster (25 characters so far and more to come) it’s very hard to balance the game. After all, if you improve or weaken one character, all the others are affected somehow. What’s more, it affects the players of not only the improved/weakened but those who play against them. That’s a lot of variables and it’s impossible to counter. One player though sees a way around a popular target of nerfing chatter: Mercy.
Mercy is a very popular character in Overwatch, and in many ways, a very unique one. As such, she has abilities and skills that have been known to make people very angry, and thus, they want her nerfed. But, Redditor Aiyakiu believes there’s another solution to the “problem” that is Mercy: Fixing other elements of the game.
One of the key things people forget in Aiyakiu’s eyes is that Mercy is one of two main healers. Only four characters in Overwatch can heal at all, and many consider Mercy the best at it. She’s popular, and so she’s the focus of a lot of conversation about balance. This isn’t fair in Aiyakiu’s eyes because there are plenty of other “high pickrate” characters that don’t get the chatter she does.
The easiest solution to the Mercy “problem” is that Blizzard should add another pure healer to the roster. That way there wouldn’t (in theory) be a reliance on Mercy and her skills. If that doesn’t happen though, the other option is to buff Ana’s healing abilities. Making her a bit more reliable in the healing department would give people another viable option beyond Mercy.
Many Redditors liked Aiyakiu’s thoughts on the matter, and many liked the idea of Ana getting buffed. Many more liked the idea of a new healer in the Overwatch mix. What do you think the proper solution is?
