There seems to have been a lot of negativity surrounding Overwatch as of late. With the ever-rising levels of toxicity over complaints of a broken report system, plus the divided opinions regarding buffs and nerfs made to certain heroes, it’s nice to report on some positive news surrounding the Blizzard shooter.
Reddit user LadyHope_ has shared a heartwarming story of how she met her fiance through the game, meeting him back in July 2016 when he added her following an “amazing game.” They then got talking and quickly became good friends, though they didn’t start dating until the new year. After 10 months, they are now engaged, and as LadyHope aptly puts it:
“We’ve climbed to Diamond together and now I have one on my finger.”
The user also notes that the news was something she wanted to share in light of all the recent talk of toxicity among the community. It is also a wonderful advert for how video games can bring people together. There is the constant battle it seems in several video games of players sniping at each other on forums and in-game, where people are quick to pass judgement between themselves often over such trivial reasons.
This however, shows how anyone can bond over gaming, even to the extent of marriage. Of course, many were quick to offer their congratulations to the couple, who will be enjoying a long engagement according to an edit in the original post. We at MMOExaminer would like to wish LadyHope and her fiance all the best for the future!
