In an interestingly titled blog post, the lead hero designer of the game Paragon has revealed some information about their new update. The update, titled Monolith launched today, and unleashed a whole new series of features on the already quite diverse gaming experience.
For instance, the combat is now faster yet more action-oriented, even while maintaining the MOBA mechanics. A new compact map has been released, along with major updates to every single available hero. Armor and damage have been changed and over one hundred updates have been made to cards throughout the game.
The base movement speed has received an increase and as a result, Travel Mode has been removed from the game altogether.
The original map has been replaced by a map called “Monolith” as the update would imply. The original map is now called “Legacy” and can still be enjoyed, but will no longer be the primary competitive experience for Paragon.
The types of received damage have also been split up. While damage from normal attacks will be called basic damage, any damage triggered by an active ability will be named ability damage, and will work on separate variables.
The Physical and Energy concepts that were originally tied to heroes have been removed completely in favor of a new system that ties players to their abilities. This ties directly into the card system.
If you’re looking for a MOBA to play, Paragon is currently hot and free, and with this huge update adding monumental content at no extra cost, it’s never been a time to give the game a try.
