You know, you honestly have to feel bad for the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds team. They have one of the most successful games of recent memory, have 20 million+ buying it, 2 million+ people playing it concurrently on Steam, they’re making an Xbox One version of the game, and people just seem to never be satisfied. And that’s sad, because it’s clear that they are working really hard on the game. Yet, players want to know when everything is happening, and why other things aren’t.
For example, currently in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, there are four maps. There is Europe, Russia, South America, and a training map. But, there’s been a promise of a Desert map for a while now, yet, because of all the work everywhere else that’s being done, no date has been set for it. So, a player went to PlayerUnknown himself on Twitter and asked when it’s arriving. His answer?
later this year

While nondescript, it is good to hear him confirm it is still coming this year. In fact, it’s very possible that the map is going to be launching alongside the Xbox One version of the game when it arrives in the middle of December. Or, it could come before, or after that, it’s hard to say.
The reason the team is sympathizable is because they didn’t expect all this fame and success. They made PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to be a fun game, and launched it on Steam Early Access so that they could build and grow it among players. So imagine their surprise when it kept breaking records? The numbers of players actually hurt them because they have to continually work on server issues, among other things, and now, they have another version to make.
What we’re saying is, please be patient with them, they promise to get everything they promised done, it’ll just take time.
