Despite the fact that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds launched in full on Steam in December, the game still has a lot of issues to work out. Mainly, there are a lot of bugs and other such issues that make the game a pain to play at times. To their credit, developer Bluehole has been working hard on fixing these things. But, there have been some standouts that players want fixed, and soon. Mainly, they want a certain country to be region locked in terms of whom they can play.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has over 30 million players worldwide, and a vast majority of them are on Steam. But, a vast majority of those players are from China. Which makes sense given the grand gaming movement that goes on there. However, China is also a country that “allows” cheating in video games. So when players from other countries face Chinese players, it tends to go badly.
Bluehole issued an apology recently because of the BP distribution that didn’t go as planned. They noted that players could reclaim what they lost by doing certain things. But, in the comments section (which is now very vast), players of the game said they didn’t care about the BP debacle, instead, they wanted China region locked. Should there be any doubt about how passionate they are about this, the comment section is 625 pages long. And some comments only say “Region Lock China”.
Now, to be clear, not ALL Chinese PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds gamers are cheaters, they’re not. But, a majority of them are, and since it’s basically impossible to weed out a section of a countries players, a region lock is honestly the simplest answer here. And given the response on that Steam page, we would be very surprised if some form of action wasn’t taken very soon. Like VERY soon.
