We’ve known for quite some time now that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be coming to Xbox One before PS4, as part of an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. What has eluded us however is a release date on the console, which has been revealed by Bluehole as December 12th.
From that day, Xbox One players will have the chance to play the game as part of the Xbox Game Preview program, which will shortly be followed for the release of the PC version in late December. So needless to say, it’s going to be a busy month for PUBG.
The developers are working on both PC and Xbox One versions at the same time, though they have confirmed that they will have two different roadmaps which will see them taking a different approach going forward. Chang Han Kim, the executive producer of the game, recently stated:
“We’re approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that we’ve taken with the game on PC. As a result, the ultimate battle royale experience that fans play on Xbox One will be slightly different than what players know today on PC.”
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is out now in Steam Early Access, and will be making its way to Xbox One on December 12th. A PS4 release date is yet to be revealed, though given that there are talks of Microsoft extending the exclusivity deal, so they may be waiting a while.
