Pokemon GO has been going strong for nearly two years. One of the reasons for this is that they give players reasons to try and play the game every day beyond the “catching them all” that all trainers want to do. Many times, this circles around a special event that is going on in the world at the time. Which, brings us to today, for developer Niantic has revealed that a special has begun that celebrates the Chinese New Year, which this time, is the Year of the Dog.
This is poetic, as Pokemon has a ton of dog-like Pokemon, including some in the most recent generation from Alola. In Pokemon GO, there are three generations of Pokemon in the title, which means there are some dogs who are just aching to be celebrated. So, Niantic revealed a special event via this tweet:

So there you go, if you catch these Pokemon, you’ll get some more Stardust, which you can use to your own advantage by powering up your Pokemon more, and making them even better in battles.
Niantic has also recently made it so that trainers can become an unofficial member of Team Rocket, as their outfits are now in the store for you to buy.
2018 could be a big year for Pokemon GO, Niantic is aiming to expand the game in many ways, as well as refine it so that certain systems play even better. One of the big asks is for actual trainer battles to happy, as well as Pokemon trading, and Niantic has said that they’re working on it. But until then, these events in the game will keep trainers busy for a while.
