According to Serebii, a respected fan-site in the Pokémon community, the second Global Mission in Pokémon Sun & Moon has been revealed. Trainers will be tasked with capturing or defeating 1 million Island Scan Pokémon. The mission will run from December 27th 04:00 UTC – January 9th 23:59 UTC. If the mission is successfully completed, each trainer that contributed towards the goal will receive 2,017 Friend Coins (FC), or 4,034 FC if their game is associated with a Global Link account. Failure to complete the mission will only yield 217 FC, or 434 FC if the game is linked.
Compared to the first Global Mission in which trainers had to capture a whopping 100 million wild Pokémon in only 13 days, this new Global Mission seems much more reasonable. For anyone that is curious about the results of the first Global Mission, trainers were only able to capture approximately 16 million Pokémon.
Despite the second Global Mission appearing to be more feasible, many trainers are still skeptical about their chances. Their concerns are due to the functionality of Island Scan. To encounter an Island Scan Pokémon, a trainer must first scan QR Codes using the in-game QR Scanner. Once 100 points have been accumulated using the scanner (generally by scanning 10 codes), trainers can locate an Island Scan Pokémon.
The catch is that only one Island Scan Pokémon can be encountered per 100 points collected. To add insult to injury, only 10 QR Codes may be scanned per day. Ultimately, this means each trainer can only contribute once per day towards completing the mission.
Hopefully, by rallying together the millions of trainers across the globe, we can demolish this new Global Mission. What are you waiting for? Register for the Global Mission and starting scanning!
