Project Genom is an ongoing gaming project that mixes MMO size and multiplayer aspects with the gameplay of a shooter and an RPG. Add that to the exploration of a large universe and you have a lot to do in the game. The game is currently on Steam Early Access with a very early Alpha build, and the team is doing its best to update players when possible about all that’s going on in the game. Which is what we got via their latest newsletter.
The team starts off by apologizing that there won’t be more game updates as of yet. There are coding issues that need to be solved before that can happen. They promise though that the coding team is working hard to fix this, as well as improve upon the game based on the feedback that was given during the latest testing run.
One thing the programmers worked hard on this week was the artificial intelligence of the NPC and enemy characters. As these are beings you’ll interact with in Project Genom quite frequently, the team knows they have to do them right.
As for the world itself, the Dump Dungeon continues to be a focus for the team. They’re working hard on developing the level and giving it new and exciting details for you to see. They feel they are at 70% complete with the level. They’ve been trying to make the environment feel truly seamless, yet also very believable, even going so far as to create rivers that you can cross.
For the characters, the team has been working on the armor models for them, the ones shown on their newsletter were high-level armors, and made to protect the character while not hiding their looks. Add to that, they’ve been working on the male and female head and facial models, as well as animations for the NPCs.
They go into great detail on how far Project Genom is coming along. Check it out if you’re interested.
