Sometimes, the story behind a game’s launch is just as important as the game itself. Take, for example, Rayman Legends. This throwback to the platforming style of the original games (versus the Rabbids series that started on the Wii) was originally meant to be on the Wii U, and the Wii U alone. But after the console began its decline right after launch, Ubisoft spread the game out to virtually every other system on the market. Despite that, the game did come to Wii U, and now, it’s come to Nintendo’s newest (and fastest-selling) console, the Switch.
Dubbed Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, this entry takes the award-winning game and plugs it into the Switch’s system, as well as gives it some unique content all its own, making it a truly worthy port. The game received many awards during its time on the last-gen consoles, and critics praised how it not only recaptured the magic of the Rayman franchise, but also the magic of platformers as a whole. Not to mention the game just looks good.

As for the game itself, Rayman Legends is about how Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies are sucked into a magical painting, and now have to escape an all-new mystical world full of traps, monsters, and other dangers. Only together can they accomplish the problems in front of them. Will you be able to make it out?
Ironically, after the Rayman Legends debacle, many wondered whether Ubisoft and Nintendo would ever be able to make peace. Turns out, they did in record time, and now the world is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. So, it seems time does heal all wounds.
