RISE, RALLY, CONQUER: Red Bull Conquest Ascends into the FGC with Top Game Titles, Regional Competitions
Calling all FGC legends and superheroes in the making! Do you have what it takes to do battle with the best fighting game players in your hometown and beyond? Do you have the guts and glory to dust the competition in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, TEKKEN 7 or Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2? Do you want to rep your region at a national finals with the chance to be crowned one of the top FGC gamers in the U.S.?
If you answered in the affirmative to any or all these questions, you need to hear about the Red Bull Conquest.
The makers of the famous energy drink with wings are sponsoring a regional, multi-title fighting game event series in 16 cities across the country. No stone will be left unturned in this rigorous search to highlight a select group of elite fighting gamers.
RISE, RALLY, CONQUER is the motto of the conquest, and FGC players hopeful of advancing past their region must prove a mastery of all three requirements.
The Red Bull Conquest will feature 15 regional qualifier rallies in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Dallas, Chicago and Atlanta. The respective Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, TEKKEN 7 and Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 champions at each stop will meet in November to compete in the national finals at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. Through the chaos, one region will prevail as the best fighting game region in the country.
An online qualifying event is also planned for FGC players unable to attend one of the rallies. So, those who want to test their fighting game skills in a friendlier fire environment are welcome to check out a pre-rally Rise meetup. Local community organizers will stage meetups to help players level up in time for the regional qualifiers.
Red Bull, a long-standing supporter of esports and the FGC, frequently sponsors events and promotes industry happenings on social media. The 2018 Conquest series marks an evolution of the popular Red Bull Battle Grounds and Red Bull Proving Grounds FGC tournaments. As a milestone in the history of esports, it’s also a huge opportunity to bring more visibility to organized fighting game tournaments.
A nationwide affair with an online component, getting back to a sense of community among local gamers is a focal point of the tournament circuit for the Red Bull Conquest. The official press release reminisces about the arcade days when gamers congregated on weekends to improve their skills and battle in friendly competitions. Esports has made a global community out of gamers, but there’s still something special about local connections and in-person gatherings.
The Red Bull Conquest pulls into Chicago for its first rally on April 28. The series runs through the Washington, D.C. finals slated for November 16-18.
