The new era of fear begins today, as Capcom announce that Resident Evil 7 is now available in Europe and North America. To date, the Resident Evil franchise has sold over 71 million units, and is looking to mark the 7th entry in the numbered series by returning to its horror roots.
Players will assume the role of Ethan Winters, a civilian in search for his missing wife. His journey leads him to Dulvey, Lousiana where he comes across a seemingly abandoned plantation, which is soon revealed to be not all as it seems. It soon becomes apparent that said plantation is inhabited by the mysterious Baker family, who have been reportedly missing for an extended period of time.
Presenting explorative and atmospheric gameplay for franchise fans and newcomers alike, Residete Evil 7 aims to deliver the trademark horror immersion that it is so well known for. The dramatic shift that the game has taken will no doubt be an interesting take on the usual core elements that have been experienced in the past.
Capcom have also announced that they will be continuing support of Resident Evil 7 with optional DLC, which will be available shortly after launch. This will include Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Banned Footage Vol. 2, which will feature two additional scenarios and extra bonus modes for players to indulge into. Following this, will be a further story episode entitled Not a Hero, which will be released for free sometime in Spring 2017, which presents a brand new storyline away from the drama of the main game.
Resident Evil 7 is now available on Xbox One, PS4, PlayStation VR and PC.
