Returning to games is often a dilemma faced by gamers. Particularly in cases where said game is of a grand scale, where you are coming back to something that you now feel unfamiliar with, or whether you left and hoped to return with more invigorated content. The epic fantasy MMORPG Rift falls under this category, with players discussing whether its worth coming back to the game having left it behind before.
This a case for Sir Thrace, who over on the official forums began the thread questioning if the current game is worth returning to. The post reads: “I was a long time RIFT player from the beginning. Went through the best and worst times from Greenscale to the amazing Hammerknell to the drudges of ID and Storm Legion and I stopped playing shortly after killing Regulos and the beginning of the F2P/P2P system.
Haven’t really touched the MMO genre since but am starting to miss it as I’m finding myself bored of other games too quickly and not finding the satisfaction that late night high end raiding gave me.” The post continues to raise other questions, such as enquiring as to whether there’s any new challenging dungeon content, and if the player has fallen too far behind with gear, faction reputation and more.
The responses didn’t seem to lean towards suggestions that returning to Rift would be worthwhile, at least not at this current time. A response from user Elayara states that there are “*no* current raids in Rift; the first will be released soon(TM) in 2017, and be 10 man only.” Makerofwidows meanwhile gave a rather honest answer that “returning to the game at this moment is not worth it. wait and see would be your best approach if you don’t mind starting levels behind when it does, if ever, becomes worth it.”
