Sometimes, you just want to add something to a video game that makes everything just a little more epic, or a little bit funnier, whichever works for you as a developer. Sometimes it’s an Easter Egg, sometimes it’s a character that no one expects, and sometimes, it’s adding items and characters from a fan-favorite cartoon. That’s exactly what Rocket League is doing, as they’re adding items featuring characters from Rick and Morty. Broh!
That’s right, Rick and Morty are going to be in Rocket League. Now, they won’t be drivers, as that’s not how the game works, however, they will be antenna for you to put on your vehicle. Other characters and items that will show up as well is Cromulon, Mr. Meeseeks, and Mr. PBH Toppers, there’s also an Interdimensional GB’ Rocket Boost, and some Sanchez DC-137 Wheels.
The best part? The stuff will be coming for free via their 2nd Anniversary update. So you won’t have to shell out some dough to get these items. Once again, the team behind Rocket League is just being nice to their fans.
Psynonix has been in the news a lot recently. Not the least of which was because of their presentation at E3 2017. They showed up at the Nintendo E3 spotlight and revealed that a Nintendo Switch version of Rocket League was coming, and more than that, that it would support crossplay with both the Xbox One version of the game, and the PC version of the game.
Then, when it was revealed that Sony had shot down the idea of doing crossplay for Minecraft and Rocket League on other systems, for reasons that didn’t make sense to many. Psyonix defended crossplay, and called it a key part of the future of gaming.
We may not know if that’s true, but the future of gaming for Rocket League players does include Rick & Morty, and that’s a fact.
