Ben Tristem started a Kickstarter campaign to build an online RPG Making Tutorial. The goal of the tutorial is to teach people to make an RPG in Unity using C+ on November 14, 2016. On November 17, they reached their goal of £25,000 (just over USD $30,000). Today, the total keeps growing.
Clearly, this is something people were ready for. The campaign hopes to break down the complexities of designing and developing RPG’s and make it possible for anyone to make the game of their dreams.
Your Ideal RPG Making Tutorial for £19
For pledging only £19 (currently US $23.47), contributors will be given access to the full array of courses in this new RPG series. Development starts ASAP and the team expects to deliver the first round of courses in March of 2017.
Donating more than £19 opens up even more possibilities for budding developers. The team behind this Kickstarter campaign already has a number of online courses available. They include topics such as using the Unreal engine, making a VR game in unity, game physics, and Blender Python.
The campaign is also nearing its first stretch goal. If it reaches £35,000, it will also include compatibility for Steam Big Picture Mode. There are other, loftier goals as well, and since the campaign runs until December 3, 2016, it seems likely that they may reach a few of them.
Something to note, it will take £75,000 for them to get up to including character customization. The team has also teased the idea of online multiplayer, but that will take “1000%” funding. That’s about US $309,000.
They might not make it up to multiplayer, but the team certainly has a good product in mind, and a lot of people willing to pay for it. Here’s the full chart for contribution levels:
