Indie games are a big part of video games nowadays, and there have been ones that have stood out to such a degree that they have become their own franchise. One such game was Bit.Trip.Runner, which became so popular that it got two sequels. The second sequel is Runner3, and the team behind the game have revealed that the game has been sent in for testing, specifically to Nintendo, as it’s going to be console exclusive to the Switch. But the game is also coming out on Steam same day as Switch.
Now, if you’re curious as to what happens next, the team explained it on their website:
If they test the game and confirm it’s suitable for release, we’ll be able to get the ball rolling on sending the physical version of the game to the manufacturer for printing. In other words, we are very close to finally getting Runner3 into your hands. I know we’ve said this before, but we are truly in the home stretch here!
This is standard procedure for game development, as Nintendo needs to test to make sure that any major bugs aren’t present in the build before they mass release it, as a major bug wouldn’t just hurt the game, it’d hurt the word of mouth about it, which would in turn hurt the game’s sales.
The team are grateful for gamer’s patience, as well as all the kindness that has been sent their way:
“We’d also like to thank you all for your positive comments these past few months, whether you wrote them here, Tweeted them at us, or posted them on our Facebook page. We’ve read them all, and they’ve gone a long way towards keeping the team inspired. So thank you for that!”
When a release date is given, we’ll let you know about it.
