Let it be known that though there are Kickstarters that get funded in the first few hours or days, but there are infinitely more that have to endure a large and long campaign with tons of promoting to get funded in the last few days, or even the last few hours. For the psychological RPG known as Sacred Fire, they’ve reached their Kickstarter goal with a little more than 2 days to go, finally reaching their funding goal of $50,000, and exceeding it.
So what is Sacred Fire? And why does it call itself a “psychological RPG?” Well, it notes that the choices and actions you take will not just be based on the clicks you make, but rather, on the minds, thoughts, and psychology of the character. Plus, you don’t start off as a leader or anything of the type. You actually have to earn everything you get, and how you go about that will greatly affect you, those around you, and of course, the story. You can fight for revenge, or you can fight to try and make the world better, it’s your call, but be prepared to embrace the choices you make.
Based off of historical events, you play as a character in the land of Caledonia, which has long been sought after by Rome. Your countrymen have fought them back for years, but they keep coming, and even a massive wall doesn’t stop them. What’s worse, a new queen has risen to power in your country, and she’s filled with hate and vengeance for Rome. This means that she could be the doom of your people if you don’t rise up to stop her. Or, you can ally with her and try to take down Rome.
Alongside that, there are friends and allies that you have to try and either work with, or put down, all of which will be done with psychological gameplay. Sacred Fire is not your typical RPG, and will be on Kickstarter until April 12th.
