Satellite Reign is a real-time strategy role-playing game in which you control 4 agents through rainy streets against the law of mega-corporations. It can be played both multiplayer and singleplayer, online and offline. Anyways, the game has received a new update and I’m going to cover the most important changes and additions.
This update is mostly focused on online play and network issues being fixed. The update lets players connect to each other directly instead of being connected via Unity relay servers. This change will solve 2 problems. First up, latency will be less of a problem. Second, players will be able to connect from any place without having to be in the same region. Thing is, they won’t show up in the default server list. However, you will still be able to see if they hosted a game if you change your filter to ‘Friends’.
When you finally connect, you should be able to see in the menu 3 types of different connections :
[DC] – Direct connection. Pretty much directly connecting to the host.
[PT] – NAT Punch-through. A service hosted on their own server that eases the connection between the player and host. After which they will communicate directly.
[RL] – The Unity Relay servers. The first communication method, where all traffic is routed through Unity’s relay servers.
