Last week, a trailer surfaced over what originally appeared to have been a fake metroidvania game. However, it now seems that the game is real after all, and will serve as a prologue to Shin Megami Tensei DEEP STRANGE JOURNEY.
According to efforts in translation from Atlus, the game will be entitled Shin Megami Tensei SYNCHRONICITY, and will serve as prologue to DEEP STRANGE JOURNEY, which will be released on October 26th in Japan, followed by a release in North America in 2018. The game is being brought about by Japan-based company DWANGO, with “Mr Crobon” as part of the production team.
A short description of the 2D-platformer reads: “Jack Frost and Jack Lantern are rampaged at the Black Forest Barth!” Fans are encouraged to check this game out in aticipation for the release of Shin Megami Tensei DEEP STRANGE JOURNEY, who’s release is just around the corner.
Though this game has no direct connection the DEEP STRANGE JOURNEY, it still looks set to be a fun game for fans of the series. Given that the reaction to the seemingly fake reveal last week was largely positive should it of then turned out to be true, then it is sure to go down a storm with those who enjoy the series until the release of DEEP STRANGE JOURNEY.
Shin Megami Tensei SYNCHRONICITY will be available as a free download until December 24th, though fans should probably check it out before October 26th, and get ready for the main game’s release in Japan. A release in North America is planned for next year.
