Shroud of the Avatar is a crowdfunded third-person RPG with MMO elements. It seeks to provide a massive singleplayer mode via episodic content, while also giving the player many opportunities to have multiplayer moments and modes. Due to the size and complexity of the game, the team, comprised mostly of Ultima veterans, makes weekly updates to give players insight into what is going on with the title.
First off, the team acknowledges that some part of the early game weren’t meeting fan expectations. In fact, players of the early alphas made numerous complaints to things such as having too many loading screens, the “scenes” they were placed in were too small, the towns they went to had everything they needed right off the bat, etc. So to ensure that the game doesn’t fall into tropes, and isn’t enjoyable, there are serious changes coming to Shroud of the Avatar. Mainly, there will be new “scenes” that you get to go to right off the bat. They’ll give players more freedom to do things without being handed everything. Plus, they’ll be areas you can explore before diving into somewhere else.
One of the first places they’re making for this redo is the Solace Bridge Outskirts, and it is their hope that they’ll this scene available in Release 42 at the latest.
For those who are seeking more gear-based updates, the team revealed that Release 40 will be including the Vile Weapons of the Obsidian Cabalists. These special weapons will appear in town siege battles, and have both a unique look and will have a weapon to represent each weapon type. Meaning, no matter what class you are, you can get one of these weapons. How do you get them? By killing the Cabalists of course!
There’s much more to this Shroud of the Avatar update, so check it out to see all the improvements, adjustments, and additions that are being made.
