Communication between video game developer and video game player is essential nowadays. For you see, with the age of the internet comes news on just about everything the developer is doing, and fans always have an opinion on what they should be doing. Plus, there are also games being made via Kickstarter, and in those cases, the teams feel more pressure to update the players because they’re the ones who funded their games. One such project was Shroud of the Avatar, an RPG and MMO that is meant to be unlike anything done before, and the players know that. But that doesn’t mean they don’t still have questions.
Mainly, there’s a lot of questions about what’s going on in development and how it impacts them. So, the Shroud of the Avatar team set up a Reddit AMA to answer their questions.
For example, one player asked why an item wipe won’t be instituted when the game is officially launched. They believe it’d put everyone on an even playing field, while also hurting those who got the items illegally. The team replied that those who cheated to get items are in the very small minority, and have been dealt with, thus doing it would harm innocent players who worked very hard to get their items during the testing phase.
Shroud of the Avatar is technically both a single player and multiplayer game fused together in unique ways, but one player wanted to know about why the single player is so different from what was explained in the Kickstarter. The team noted that they’re still developing it. In fact, single player was specifically stated to be on of the last things worked on. Plus, as noted, this is meant to be a game like no other, so it won’t be a perfect adventure for either side.
Finally, when asked what the biggest concern was for the team, they replied that the game needs to be fun, and the game needs to be done. Be sure to check out the full Reddit AMA to see all the responses to fan questions.
