While I don’t personally know anyone who hasn’t played the fantasy RPG, the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, it is going free to play from now until Sunday 1PM PST. If you have managed to steer clear of the Steam sales and other ways you could have paid essentially nothing for Skyrim, then download it now for literally nothing and decide whether it’s worth purchasing.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is arguably one of the most popular video games to ever come out. Serving as the fifth instalment in the Elder Scrolls series after titles like the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Skyrim brought many new players to the franchise.
It tells the tale of the Dragonborn, the hero of Skyrim with the power to absorb the souls of dragons, speak their language, and horde hundred of thousands of wheels of cheese in their house to impress the Daedric God Sheogorath. It is an epic adventure that captured the hearts of millions when it first released back in 2011.
The “Special Edition” of the game, which is what is available to play for free and will also be 50% to purchase on both Steam and the Xbox One, is a remastered version of the original Skyrim. It includes a number of pre-installed mods to improve what the game looks like and how it runs.
If you want to play the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim then check out the Steam page or download it on your Xbox One and play the game without paying a cent until Sunday. If you decide you want it, it will also be available for 50% off its original price on both platforms. If you want more Skyrim-related content, why not check out a discussion piece I wrote regarding bethesda’s creation club and whether or not we should be paying for mods?
