A brand new RPG Kickstarter has arrived, and it’s already funded. While that may seem odd, you won’t be thinking that once you go and see that it was asking for only 50 Euros, and has easily surpassed that in less than a day. The Kickstarter in questions is called Sol Ni Koro, and it’s a 3D RPG, but with 2D sprites. You’ll see what we mean in the teaser trailer below. The game is inspired by the classic RPGs of the golden era, but it’s being made for the modern age of gaming.
For the team at Nostalgia Hound, it wasn’t just about making a successful game, they wanted Sol Ni Koro to an epic RPG with a vast story and characters that would connect with them. They didn’t mind the game itself being nostalgic in feel, but they wanted to be sure it didn’t have a lot of the bad designs that some RPGs of the golden era had.
One of the ways they’re using modern technology to improve the RPG format is the camera, which you can use to scan 360 degrees around your character. What this’ll do is not only allow you to see the world in full detail, but be able to see paths that may not have been visible to you before.
The game itself takes place in a world called Varos, a place that has been literally ripped apart by war. As such, there are now four nations that are separated by fissures of darkness that actually create monsters. Now, you’ll journey to the nations, meet new characters, and learn more about what’s going on in the world.
Aside from getting funded on Kickstarter, Sol Ni Koro is aiming to get on Steam Greenlight, and hopes you’ll support them there as well. The Kickstarter though has just begun, so if this RPG sounds interesting, you might want to go support it.
