There are some video game arguments that can just never stop, especially when it comes to video games that are undergoing constant changes, like Overwatch. With 24 heroes, all with special abilities and techniques, you’ll find that fans are always saying one should get improved, or taken down a peg, or something else entirely in the name of making the game fair. Then, if Blizzard does make said improvement, it sometimes won’t matter, because players will say they didn’t do enough. That’s currently the case for the character known as Solider 76.
The character recently received a change from Blizzard to tone down his abilities, but for Battle.net user StarKill3r, they don’t think it’s enough of a nerf:
“I though at first glance that the nerf was perfect and nothing else was needed, but now that I’m really looking at it I started thinking that maybe Soldier would need some kind of nerf to his biotic field or maybe some damage fall off,” he notes.
Now, it’s entirely possible that Blizzard didn’t go far enough in the nerfing, that has happened before with characters. And StarKill3r was fair by noting that he doesn’t know if his suggestions would be enough to “fix” Soldiers 76. So, he opened it up to other Battle.net users for their thoughts.
Some weren’t sure that Soldier 76 needed a nerfing, because doing so would put him at risk against other incredibly powerful characters like Pharah (who is a constant source of Buffing/Nerfing chatter). Others were very supportive and offered suggestions such as extra cooldown time to some of his abilities.
One player noted that Soldier 76 hasn’t changed much since Overwatch Season 02 play:
“It’s funny how nobody ever complained about all the other parts of Soldier’s kit in Season 2, where the only difference between then and now is 3 points of damage on his bullets,” noted PhireStar.
